FAQ
What is TankOS?
TankOS is a virtual operating system coded in Visual Basic .NET, built to ensure user experiences are nominally enjoyable. Most features you can find in Windows 7, you can find in TankOS.
Is TankOS free?
Yes, TankOS is free. We still have a registration system (which we are considering overhauling), which has been edited a lot. You may not notice it yet, but in the current version of TankOS, the registration system has become a lot better. You can now generate keys via a built in feature on the login form!
What is the difference between TankOS and notaOS?
TankOS is more a virtual operating system, whereas (I personally see it as), notaOS is more of a utility tool. You can check notaOS @ NotaOS.webs.com
Why should I use TankOS?
That's up for you to decide! If you don't like TankOS, we 100% want to know your opinions and issues. You can report these issues to us on our contact forms or inside TankOS' report feature!
Why does notaOS have more features than TankOS?
I personally like to code everything by hand and make sure that everything works as I can get it to work, while I have taken hold of notaOS, a lot of the stolen code still remains, waiting to be edited.
Why does TankOS have a registration code system?
This was implemented in the days of NotaTankOS, back when we didn't even have registration codes that saved. This feature stayed to be flashy and to be sure we remained recognizance of our roots.
Who develops TankOS? Just me. I work on it all alone and have no outside assistance with the exception of Viggo Lundén, an acquaintance who is helping me work on translating TankOS into Swedish.
Why VB.NET?
Well, personally I think VB.NET suits my goals for this project. I have no interest in making this multiplatform. VB.NET is one of my more
knowledgeable languages.
Supported operating systems: Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8
Syntax: Verbose
Actual language: VB.NET
Current TankOS Version: 1.0.1.0
LEGAL INFORMATION:
TankOS is not a trademark registered to us, and has no copyright claims out anywhere, if you think TankOS has copied something from you, stolen personal property or taken without giving credit, do not hesitate to contact us! If enough proof is presented, the feature will be removed!
TankOS Terminal Commands:
Please note that they are case sensitive!
