We are well aware of what happens when you type the racially insensitive word involving the letter N into the TankOS repeater. You are given a "TankOS Bluescreen". When you press the Report button, you are unable to report this. This is because we don't support racial insensitivity. We may change this in a further update, but for now it is planned to stay.
An issue with our upload website and our connection to CNet has tumbled up into 1 issue. We won't be able to give anyone 1.0.0.0 right now, or until the 26th.
We've set up the installer, we have it uploaded but it isn't available quite yet due to reasons of uploading. We're going to fix old installers but we're removing some versions of TankOS. For this, we are sorry.
TankOS' first official release is soon. In this update, we've ironed out a large amount of glitches, added a "blue screen of death" to report errors to us automatically. (You can simply decline the offer to send us the bug report, of course.) We've also added a repeater, which will take what you type and repeat it back to you. Exceptions occur of course. Typing a racist word (the N word comes to mind) will result in the Blue Screen of Death. (Our version that is, not the actual Windows BSOD). We've also added a password generator with a much sturdier algorithm than most others you see. This will never spit out the same password, it uses every letter in the English alphabet, it uses brackets, parenthesis, quotes, apostraphes and many more characters. Think it'd be hard to remember the password? Just use our notepad to jot it down!
We've added a "terminal" of sorts to TankOS. The commands are a little cryptic, so we figured we could post a list of them here.
Please note that they are case sensitive! "CurrentVersion" - Gets the current version of TankOS that you have downloaded. "Delete NotaOS" - Brings up a deletion tray for NotaOS. Runs the uninstallers. "CheckForConnection" - Checks for a connection to a limited/online network. "ShutdownStart" - Begins a 60 second-long system shutdown "ShutdownAbort" - Cancels the system shutdown invoked by the previous command. "TankOSLogOut" - Logs you out of TankOS "RegisterProduct" - Brings up the product registration window. "Snakey" - Launches the Snake Game "ShowCalculator" - Shows calculator "ShowWebBrowser" - Shows Web Browser "ShowGUIFull" - Changes the NoGUI/Windowed GUI to Fullscreen GUI (Windowed GUI NYI) "ShowTerminalFull" - Makes Terminal fullscreen - Still working on this. "ShowAlarmClock" - Shows alarm clock "ShowHashIdentifier" - Shows the hash identifier "ShowEmailer" - Shows emailer "ShowTaskManager" - Shows task manager (We're updating the task manager, so this may not work too well.) "ShowTextToSpeech" - Shows text to speech program. "ShowCalendar" - Shows calendar "ShowUserSettings" - Shows GUI User settings "ShowHelpOptions" - Shows help options GUI "Hi" - Makes you feel good about yourself. You may find this feature in the recently released TankOS 0.4.9. We are aware that NotaOS has edited the source code of TankOS in order to set us up for racial obsenities. Please note that we are closing the open source as of current to avoid any further issues such as this.
So, we've gone through all of TankOS. We have rewritten the whole thing in an x86 assembler in order to allow faster experiences on users with 32bit/non-par 64 bit systems.
We are also quite aware of TankOS not saving user settings. In order to fix this, we've added 2 .CONFIG files to TankOS. This will be added in the next update, but we will add links to the raw files in order to fix other copies soon enough. TankOS 0.4.8 is now available for users everywhere! Now for the news. TankOS has finally been accepted on CNet! While this means less frequent updates, it means more quality updates. We hope to bring quality updates to all users, but not everyone shares the same opinion. We hope by uploading to CNet that more people recognize TankOS and that we may bring bigger updates that pack more punches. The upcoming TankOS update is HUGE. The fileversion will be as it's normally been, 0.4.8 this time. What to expect in the upcoming update: A game, a file pumper, more complex GUI coloring, an emailer with multiple smtp server supports (yahoo, ymail, yahoo.co.uk, gmail and hotmail) and a bug reporting tool built in to TankOS. You can expect this update somewhere around today, but we are unable to release it right now due to a massive amount of glitches that we have to iron out.
Wow, it's already been 10 days since we last updated TankOS! Well, we just updated it. Lots of events are going on for Tank right now, what with their (my) upcoming birthday, a bunch of family things and discussing stuff with Nota. Nevertheless, Tank decided to add some very nifty GUI customization options. They aren't TOO ambitious, but they allow you to change the main GUI background color and customize/disable music upon startup, rather than having to press the radiobuttons upon each login. (We don't plan to do with with the GUI, though.)
